(AsiaGameHub) – To address problem gaming, Argentina’s Congress has introduced a bill aimed at enhancing industry regulation. The legislation prioritizes the protection of minors and increases supervision of the online betting market.
The legislation classifies gambling addiction as a matter of public health. Consequently, the Health Ministry and Sedronar are tasked with organizing and implementing initiatives for prevention, education, research, and treatment across the country.
Furthermore, the proposal seeks to restrict unauthorized operators from utilizing banking services, payment processors, domain registrations, and other platforms, such as virtual currency providers. As a result, financial entities, including banks and credit card firms, are barred from serving unlicensed operators. Additionally, regulators will possess the power to block gaming-related website domains.
Advertising for unlicensed operators will face strict limitations. These operators are banned from advertising via broadcast, radio, social media, the internet, or international channels. Meanwhile, licensed casinos are required to implement robust age verification systems for patrons and enforce extra measures to shield minors from gambling activities.
Criminal sanctions will be imposed for running illicit iGaming platforms or supplying the aforementioned essential services to unauthorized gaming operators.
This legislation emerges alongside a nationwide debate concerning the regulation of online gambling and its related effects.
